Clearly, the bandwidth wars are with us since SEACOM went live a couple of weeks ago. Last week Orange Kenya launched its Internet Everywhere 3G+ for a set-up fee of approximately Kes. 4,000.00, including 25 megabytes (only?) of free data. This pricing is approximately the same for Safaricom’s 3G modem

Its becoming increasingly apparent that the soon to be operational high speed undersea data cables that will connect Kenya to the rest of the world are fueling the emergence of local Internet portals. These developments are an obvious move to capitalize on the fact that Kenya currently has very limited
